If your mum can’t hear, help still comes fast.
HelpAlert has shaped this service specifically for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, focusing on clear, reliable alerts that don’t rely on sound alone.
Clear alerts you can see and feel
Strong vibration alerts
Every device vibrates firmly the moment an alarm is triggered, so the alert is felt immediately, even through clothing.
Clear visual confirmation
Watch-based alarms display clear on-screen messages and flashing indicators to confirm the call has connected and help is being arranged.
False alarm reassurance
If the device detects a fall by mistake, a simple vibration or on-screen prompt allows the alert to be cancelled before family or emergency services are contacted.
Why standard alarms can fall short
Many personal alarms rely on sound alone. For someone with hearing loss, this can make it unclear whether help has been successfully contacted.
Missed audible prompts
Spoken alerts or confirmation tones may not be heard, especially in noisy environments or without hearing aids.
Unclear confirmation
Without a visual or tactile signal, it can be hard to know whether the alarm has connected and help is on the way.
Unnecessary worry
This uncertainty can lead to repeated checking and added anxiety for both the person wearing the alarm and their family.
How HelpAlert alarms support hearing loss
HelpAlert alarms are designed so reassurance does not depend on hearing.
Clear tactile feedback
Strong vibration confirms the alarm has been triggered and felt immediately, even through everyday clothing.
Visual confirmation
Screens and LED indicators show clearly when the alert has connected and support is being arranged.
Flexible communication
Where speaking is difficult, alerts can still be raised and managed without relying on audio prompts alone.
The result: a calmer, more confident experience for the person wearing the alarm and peace of mind for their family.

Frequently Asked Questions
Find the answers you need right here.
How does the alarm work if you cannot hear it?
The device vibrates firmly and the watch displays confirmation to show the call has gone through. A loud voice message also plays for anyone who can hear some sound.
What happens if I fall but cannot talk on the phone?
Automatic fall detection sends the alert for you. Our emergency team speaks first; if you do not reply, we follow our emergency procedures and call family or the emergency services.
Will it still help if the person is fully deaf?
Yes. Vibration and lights confirm the alarm, and our team can switch to text messages to guide the user while help is arranged.
Does it buzz on your wrist like a phone?
Yes. Both the watch and pendant give a strong vibration you can feel even through light clothing.
Can it flash or light up when something happens?
The pendant alarm has LEDs that flash when the alarm is sent and the watch will display confirmation to show the alarm call has gone through.
Is it easy to press if someone is panicking?
The SOS button on the pendant is large and in the middle and the watch button is a single button on the side, simply hold down for a couple of seconds to trigger the alarm, even with shaky hands.
Will someone still come if no one answers?
If we cannot get a response, we treat it as urgent, call your contacts and, if needed, dispatch the emergency services.
Do you need Wi-Fi or a landline for it to work?
No. The alarm uses its own mobile signal and works anywhere in the UK with network coverage.
Can it be worn in the shower or outside?
Yes. Both devices are shower-proof and safe to wear in the shower, garden or on a walk.
Does the alarm talk loud enough for people with hearing aids?
The speaker reaches up to 80 dB and is compatible with all major hearing-aid brands.
